EAUC 14th Annual Conference: 22nd March - 24th Marth 2010
“Engage, Change, Sustain - from planning to practice”

This key sector conference will deliver critical insight, tools and contacts to ensure universities and colleges can meet today’s challenges:
- carbon reduction targets and legislation
- reduced funding and space utilisation
- accounting for environmental and social impacts
This conference aims to engage delegates to become leaders of the sustainability agenda.

TEFMA Carbon Footprint Workshop
Universities dealing with Climate Change

The 2009 TEFMA Carbon Footprint Workshop promises to be an excellent workshop for anyone working within the tertiary sector. The theme for this very important workshop is ‘Carbon Footprint - Universities dealing with Climate Change’.
The workshop will be relevant and valuable to all tertiary institutions and you are encouraged to include those working in Finance, Traffic & Parking and Purchasing Sections of your institutions in this workshop.

CSU environmental initiatives
The information session on CSU environmental initiatives is being held as part of World Environment Day. The information session will cover projects such as:
- Energy and water conservation initiatives planned and completed of Wagga Wagga Campus
- Student driven environmental initiatives
- What is CSU Green
- Small Communities Closed Loop Organics Recycling Pilot Project which is being run in conjunction with the Riverina Eastern Regional Organisation of Councils (REROC) Waste Forum
At the completion of the information session, attendees will have the opportunity to tour the Organics recycling facility.

The Talloires Declaration
The Talloires Declaration is a official statement signed by over 300 universities throughout the world, that commits universities to environmental sustainability in higher education. It is comprised of a ten-point plan for incorporating sustainability and environmental literacy into the teaching, research operations and outreach of universities and colleges. A number of Australian universities have signed the Talloires Declaration and have developed action plans for its implementation.

Fostering Sustainable Behaviour through Community Based Social Marketing website produced by Environmental Psychologist Doug McKenzie Mohr. Relevant training need: An understanding of CBSM and its application to fostering sustainable behaviour.
This website consists of six resources: an online guide which provides valuable information on the use of community-based social marketing to design and evaluate programs to foster sustainable behavior; searchable databases of articles, cases, graphics, and downloadable reports on fostering sustainable behavior, and discussion forums for sharing information and asking questions of others.

The Australasian Campuses Towards Sustainability Conference
Opportunities to learn from the experiences of other Environmental Change Practitioners.
Each year, the ACTS conference is held to enable sustainability practitioners and educators to learn from each other’s experiences via the presentation of focussed papers, or via more interactive workshops. Attending this conference is a highly worthwhile investment for anyone new to the realm of greening organisations, and provides a great opportunity to meet people in similar fields of work. Details of each annual ACTS conference and how to register are displayed on this website.
ACT/NSW Environmental Managers Network
Opportunities to learn from the experiences of other Environmental Change Practitioners, Training in environmental auditing and reporting to assist with measuring progress.
In mid 2006, a series of training programs will be run for environmental managers/ practitioners in the ACT and surrounding NSW region. This series of training programs will cover environmental themes such as cultural change for sustainability, waste management, biodiversity management, environmental risk reduction, water conservation management, and sustainable transport.

Environmental Protection
Governments throughout Australia have Environmental Protection legislation, which must be adhered to by tertiary bodies. It is important to establish a good partnership with local environmental protection authorities, and to seek their help in clarifying environmental risk issues and responsibilities. Each state has their own Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
