Education for Sustainability Grants
The Education for Sustainability Grants Program 2008-2009 is administered by the Department of the Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts. This is a small program providing support to national strategic projects that facilitate changes in community attitudes and behaviour in support of sustainability, through education and learning. The 2008-09 round is now closed.

The Melbourne Smart Water Fund
The Melbourne Smart Water Fund provides opportunities for Victorian institutions to apply for funding for water conservation initiatives.

Community Water Grants
Through the Federal Government’s Community Water Grants scheme tertiary institutions can apply for funding for water conservation initiatives.

Greenhouse Abatement Certificates
Institutions in NSW and the ACT, including universities and TAFE’s, are eligible to apply for Greenhouse Abatement Certificates through the NSW Greenhouse Gas Abatement program. These are tradeable certificates created by savings made through energy efficiency or abatement measures.

NSW Environmental Trust
The Environmental Trust is an independent statutory body established by the NSW government to support exceptional environmental projects that do not receive funds from the usual government sources. The Trust is empowered under the Environmental Trust Act 1998, and its main responsibility is to make and supervise the expenditure of grants. The Trust is administered by the Department of Environment and Conservation.

Caring for our Country funding: National
Caring for our Country is the Government’s new natural resource management initiative. Caring for our Country is an integrated package with one clear goal, a business approach to investment, clearly articulated outcomes and priorities and improved accountability.
Caring for our Country commenced on 1 July 2008 and integrates delivery of the Australian Government’s previous natural resource management programs, including the Natural Heritage Trust, the National Landcare Program, the Environmental Stewardship Program and the Working on Country Indigenous land and sea ranger program.
This initiative also incorporates the delivery of a range of other natural resource management funding elements including Community Coastcare, World Heritage, regional investments and relevant 2007 election commitments.
Caring for our Country provides $2.25 billion in funding over fiver years from 1 July 2008 to June 2010.
